Former G League player Chance Comanche reportedly admitted to killing a woman in Las Vegas after his arrest

Former NBA G League player Chance Comanche admitted to fatally strangling a woman in Las Vegas earlier this month, according to an affidavit from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Comanche was arrested Friday after a first-degree kidnapping warrant was issued in Las Vegas. He was taken to jail in Sacramento County, California, and later released by the Stockton Kings – the Sacramento Kings’ G League affiliate. Then on Sunday, Las Vegas police announced that Comanche and his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, face open murder charges in the death of Marayna Rodgers.

According to the Associated Press, Comanche described Rodgers’ alleged murder to Las Vegas investigators. He appeared in court Tuesday and is expected to be extradited to Nevada, where he is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Harnden is also charged in connection with Rodgers’ death and is being held without bail in a Las Vegas jail.

“I cannot comment on the content of the statements made to law enforcement,” Comanche’s attorney, Michael Goldstein, said Wednesday. via The Associated PressS. “We made our first appearance yesterday and the allegations are being dealt with in court… We will take it to the courts. We will deal with it in Nevada.”

Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, was last seen on Dec. 6 during a trip to Las Vegas with friends, her family said. Her remains were later found in a desert area outside the city.

According to the report, Comanche and Harnden worked together to choke Rodgers on Dec. 6 over an ongoing dispute between Harnden and Rodgers over an expensive watch. Police said that both Harnden and Rodgers were sex workers and that “the conspiracy involved Comanche posing as a sex client” to lure Rodgers before allegedly killing her. Police said Comanche and Harnden then left Rodgers’ body on the side of the road in Henderson, Nevada.

The 27-year-old Comanche was with the Stockton Kings for a game against the G League Ignite in Las Vegas on December 5 – the day before the alleged murder. The 1.90 meter tall forward appeared in one NBA game in his career, last season with the Portland Trail Blazers. Comanche went undrafted by Arizona in 2017 and spent time in the G League, the Basketball League and played in Turkey. He averaged 14 points and seven rebounds in 13 games with the Stockton Kings this season.
